יַבָּשָׁה“dry land”Yabbashah, "dry land," is the standard and far more common Hebrew word for the solid, habitable ground that stands apart from the sea. It is the land that appears when God gathers the waters at creation, the floor of the parted Red Sea on which Israel walks out of Egypt, and the shore the great fish spits Jonah back onto. A second, less common spelling of the very same word, yabbeshet, means exactly the same thing and is used interchangeably in a couple of places; yabbashah is the everyday form.
