חֵל“rampart”The word chel, "rampart," is the ordinary Hebrew name for the low outer wall or raised earthwork that ran around a fortified city in front of its main wall. It is the well-known form of this word, used of Jerusalem's defenses, of the ring of siegeworks thrown up against a besieged town, and of the outer wall of Nineveh. Psalm 48 uses a form of the same word with a possessive ending, spelled chelah and counted separately as H2430, but that is simply this word with "her" attached rather than a different word.
