פָּרָה“be fruitful”The word פָּרָה (parah), "to be fruitful," is the standard and by far the more common spelling of this verb. At heart it pictures a plant loaded with fruit, and the Bible uses that same picture of people and animals bringing forth offspring, most famously in the command to be fruitful and multiply and in God's promise to grow one family into a nation. Its rare twin פָּרָא (para) is the very same verb with the last letter written differently and turns up only once, so this spelling is the one to study for the whole word.
